ENGLISH CREAMWARE, BLACK TRANSFER-PRINTED JUG, CIRCA 1795, DISPLAYING ‘THE COOPERS ARMS’ and the GREAT SEAL OF THE UNITED STATES

Printed on one side with the arms within banners inscribed “THE COOPERS ARMS” and “PROSPERITY ATTEND THE INTEGRITY OF OUR CAUSE.” Other side with “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and an adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States. Painted under the spout with the initials “DCP” in black enamel foliate script. Probably a presentation piece for an outstanding member of the cooper trade. Makers mark on bottom: “Herculaneum”

Condition: One tiny chip each to top of spout and base. Minor discoloration to some areas. Loss to gilding around spout. Overall a wonderful example in excellent condition with no repairs.
