Rare George III Truncheon, circa 1805 from the port city of Bristol, England. Truncheons were sometimes used by press gangs during the Napoleonic and Anglo-American wars to “persuade” sailors to join the Royal Navy.
Brass with acorn finial engraved “16/Bristol/Dock Watch/G.R./III.” Turned wooden handle branded “21” on bottom. Length 12-1/8 inches.
