1815 Handbill Advertising an Early English Performance of Beethoven’s Grand Battle Sinfonia, Conducted by Sir George Smart at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London
This interesting handbill describes the performance as “Descriptive of the BATTLE and VICTORY at VITTORIA, gained by the Armies under the Command of Field Marshal, His Grace, the DUKE of WELLINGTON”, which was “performed with unbounded Applause last Season.”
Other performances include Handel’s Messiah and Beethoven’s Mount of Olives.
Very scarce and excellent condition. Nice size for framing: 12 x 7 ¼ inches. Would make a fantastic gift for any lover of the performing arts.
